Project Background

A boutique hotel in Lisbon's historic city center, consuming approximately 2,200 kWh of electricity per month, faces two major challenges: firstly, voltage instability due to lagging grid upgrades in the old city, impacting guest room comfort; and secondly, soaring electricity prices during Portugal's peak tourist season (peaking at €0.28/kWh), significantly increasing operating costs. The hotel needs to optimize energy within its limited space.

Policy Support

Based on Portugal's tourism energy transition plan:

Receive subsidies for green renovation of historic buildings, covering 35% of total investment.

Enjoy tax breaks on electricity for small businesses.

Participate in the Lisbon Smart Grid Demonstration Project, receiving annual compensation.
